Boosting a post vs running a real Meta ad campaign: what changes
Boosting a post is a quick way to show one post to more people. A campaign in Meta Ads Manager gives you more goals, such as leads through an instant form, more control over who sees the ad and where, and tracking of what happens after the click. Boosting is fine for a good post or an event; a campaign is better when you want enquiries you can count.
Why this question comes up
Many business owners in Dhaka tell us they already boost their Facebook posts. That is a fair start. A boosted post is one tool. Before choosing any tool, we look at how people find the business today, on Google, on Maps, on the page, and how they reach it. Then we pick what is worth paying for.
This guide explains the difference in plain words, so you can decide for yourself. Meta also has its own explanation of boosted posts and ads.
The main differences
| Question | Boosted post | Ads Manager campaign |
|---|---|---|
| Where you make it | One button on a post you already published | Meta Ads Manager, built from the start |
| Goals | A short list, such as more engagement, messages or website visits | The full list, including leads with an instant form, calls and sales |
| Who sees it | Basic audience choices | Detailed choices, saved audiences, and people who already visited your site or page |
| Several ad versions | One post | Several ads in one campaign, so you can see which works |
| Tracking after the click | Limited | Meta Pixel and conversion tracking, so you can count real enquiries |
| Effort | A few minutes | More set-up, and it needs checking every week |
Meta changes its menus often. The names above describe what each option does, not the exact button labels.
When boosting is enough
- You have one strong post, such as a new offer or an event, and you want more local people to see it.
- You want more followers or more messages, and you can answer the messages quickly.
- You are testing whether people react to an idea before spending more.
When a campaign is the better choice
- You want enquiries you can count: names and phone numbers, not likes.
- You want to try two or three different ads and keep the one that works.
- You want to show ads again to people who already visited your page or website.
- You spend every month and need to know what each taka brought back.
Three things to fix before you spend more
- Answer fast. Paid messages are wasted if nobody replies for a day. An inbox helper, like the one on our work page, can answer common questions while you are busy.
- Check where people go after the ad. A slow or confusing page loses people you already paid for.
- Write down what a good enquiry is. If you do not count enquiries, you cannot tell which ads work.
How ResultGrid Digital handles this
